Rosie King is a young woman who has had Autism since birth, as well as Rosie's younger brother. Rosie feels Autism has made her who she is today and if she had the choice she wouldn't want to get rid of it.
Rosie starts of her talk with multiple examples of stereotypes towards Autism that exist in our world today. As Rosie compares her mind to an average human mind she questions why the average mind seems to keep everything locked up in "one little box". Rosie says since she has Autism her imagination is more vivid than everybody else's. Rosie says she would've never achieved what she has now if she didn't have Autism. Rosie faces challenges in school, for example whenever her "inner world" is something that becomes exciting she feels the need to scream, run or rock back and forth. This is a way to release all this energy trapped inside of her. Rosie feels terrified that people are offering camps for people with disabilities to make them a form of "normal". She wants everyone to be able to express their uniqueness and imagination like she can with her Autism.
After watching this talk I feel that Rosie shows great points throughout her talk. She uses the comparison of her brother that is "non verbal" and is severely Autistic but she loves to talk. When Rosie searched up "Autistic people are.." on google the first suggestion finished the sentence with "demon". This is very sickening to me, Rosie explains her outburst that make Autistic people different from the normal person who may think this accusation. She says that since she has this ball of energy and does these outburst that nobody wants to be friends with the Autistic girl. This day and age everybody is trying to be normal or be the person with the most friends. This doesn't matter to Rosie she has her family and her wide-spread imagination and she thanks Autism for giving her that.
In conclusion, Rosie thinks of Autism as a great blessing to her. I would recommend this video to many people. Rosie is a young woman that just wants people to feel free to express their imagination and Autism did that for her.
